What makes it special

Eagle has run since 1967 under Masahiro Goto, one of Japan’s most respected jazz critics, and it takes the format at its most serious: no conversation until 6pm, around 4,000 records plus 7,000 CDs rotating through roughly 500 tracks every two hours, and large JBL studio monitors playing loud into a room with a stepped floor and sculpted ceiling designed around the sound. With DUG in Shinjuku gone as of June 2026, Eagle is now the closest thing central Tokyo has to a flagship jazz kissa. The kitchen holds its own — the Showa-style Napolitan pasta and the housemade cheesecake are the standing orders.
